Duet

I took a few days off last week to beautiful Peterborough, which is a 1.5-hour drive northeast of Toronto.  I have been thinking all summer of getting away since I couldn't travel to Germany this year.  The decision to travel to Peterborough was an easy one since the exhibition Duet at the Art Gallery of Peterborough (AGP) was a huge draw for me.  The show, which was closed just this past weekend, brought together Jack Bush's analogue and Francisco-Fernando Granados's digital paintings/drawings.  I was particularly inspired by Granados's digital work, which encouraged me to reconsider a more serious use of the digital medium.  My interest in the digital medium was first ignited when I saw David Hockey's iPhone/iPad paintings at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) in 2011.  I have been using the iPhone and various softwares, more notably Microsoft Excel, to explore my studio work in recent years.  It is time for me to take the medium to the forefront.
