Lyall Buecking temporality

As Susan Hobbs Gallery is celebrating its 20th anniversary, its group exhibition Simple Present, Future Anterior captures moments in time by presenting works by artists that explore temporality and the nature of memory.

Model For A Timeless Garden

I was ecstatic when I found this video ...

I saw and was awed by Olafur Eliasson's Object Defined By Activity series of light/water sculptures when I visited New York's Tanya Bonakdar Gallery last November.  The strobelight installation Model For A Timeless Garden currently showing at London's Hayward Gallery seems to be a similar but scaled-up version.  I look forward to seeing Eliasson's work again when I visit London in March.

Impel With Puffs: Kelly vs Kelly

Diaz Contemporary's new show Impel With Puffs presents a dialogue between sculptor Kelly Jazvac and photographer Kelly Wood.  I've been waiting for Jazvac's new show since 2010.  So when I heard about this show, I went there as soon as it's opened.  Using advertising materials, found imagery and short-lived consumer goods, Jazvac's sculptural installations, objects and collages in plastic at the exhibition have continued to draw inspirations from consumerism.  She considers Kelly Wood’s Continuous Garbage Project 1998-2003 to be an important influence on her own practice.  Wood's photographs at the exhibition consist of images of air pollution in Ontario.
