Forst
Michael Sailstorfer's multilayered installation Forst is currently showing at Berlinische Galerie. Five trees hung upside down from the gallery ceiling are constantly being rotated on a motor. The sense of smell, sound, movement and time are all elements of the installation. Sailstorfer displays here a tug of war between the artificial system and the natural. Surprisingly (or not surprisingly), neither side is a predominant winner.
