My last day in Chicago was treated with a surprise. I stumbled upon this museum that most tourists would probably overlook. Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art (UIMA) is currently showing Chicago's Bauhaus Legacy. After the dissolution of the Berlin Bauhaus by the Nazis in 1933, its continuation was established when Laśzló Moholy-Nagy was invited to form the New Bauhaus in Chicago in 1937. The exhibition showcases the New Bauhaus/Bauhaus-influenced works from this period and beyond, including treasures from the UIMA's rich collection.

Lines in space
A couple of surprises at Hamburger Kunsthalle yesterday - I almost missed them since they were both in the old building. All about expressions of lines in space ...

Meisterhäuser: layers of colours
Walter Gropius's 1925 Meisterhäuser in Dessau are the crystallization of Bauhaus ideas. The use of colours in these legendary houses was unparallel.

Bauhaus Meisterhäuser
It was my third time visiting Bauhaus at Dessau this past summer. A short walk from the Bauhaus campus are Walter Gropius's 1925 Meisterhäuser. Out of the four masters' houses built, only three still stand.
