Hein's (dys)functional Modified Social Benches

Jeppe Hein's playful installations always invite viewers' participation.  His Modified Social Benches are not mere sculptures.  They are surreal (and dysfunctional?) outdoor furniture.

I took another trip out of the city centre to southwest Berlin today.  At the end of line U3 of the Berlin U-Bahn, Haus am Waldsee is actually quite easy to get to.  Their current show Wie kommt das Neue in die Welt? Neun internationale Bildhauer in Berlin is a group exhibition of indoor and outdoor sculptures by German and international artists:
