How To See And Read The Aura

The title of Kyla Mallett's series of screen prints How To See And Read The Aura comes from a found self-help book.  Mallett used UV-sensitive screen printing inks in her prints, which revealed more or less of the text depending on the changing UV exposure, hence mimicking the practice of aura reading.

Zero to Infinity + the Tanks

Rasheed Araeen's dynamic work Zero To Infinity at the Tanks, the newest exhibition space of Tate Modern, consists of 100 uniform lattice cubes initially arranged in a 10 by 10 array.  Guests were invited to move the cubes around to form a spontaneous configuration out of infinitely many possibilities.  The artwork challenges the idea that a work of art has to be a fixed object conceived by a single individual.

Imagining the de-centralization of the exhibition space, the current Lucas Soi curated group exhibition De-Accessioned at Toronto's Cooper Cole Gallery displays works in transitory transportation mode, questioning the site-specificity of art showing.

Abstract free form @ Kananaj

I visited Robert Kananaj Gallery for its group show yesterday.  I was most impressed by the abstract free-form paintings, drawings and mixed media works on view.
