Referencing Jack Bush's colour-field paintings, Joe Fleming's latest solo exhibition Thinking Of Bush is a collection of well composed "sculptural" paintings, most on plexiglas. The transparency/translucency of the plexi-support adds layers to the already interesting compositions while the interplay of light and shadows brings new dimensions beyond the flat picture plane. This new series of paintings are my most favourite by Fleming so far.
