Markham, immediately north of Toronto, is one of Canada's most culturally diverse and fastest growing cities. The public art exhibition Land|Slide Possible Futures at Markham Museum, just closed this past weekend, was a reinterpretation of its historical buildings and artefacts. Frank Havermans celebrated primal craftsmanship with four hoist pulleys, which were used to hold up a contemporary steel structure outside the historic Strickler Barn.
