Reichstag

I did seven years ago when I visited Berlin the first time.  I tried the past three years.  Finally I managed to get inside Norman Foster's 1999 Reichstag dome again this summer.  This time I took some pictures.

Commerzbank Frankfurt

Before being overtaken by Renzo Piano's the Shard in London earlier this year, Norman Foster's 1997 Commerzbank in Frankfurt was the tallest building in Europe.

Architecture of new Berlin

Can't believe it's already the end of my twelve days in Berlin.  Since all art galleries are closed on Mondays, it's another architecture day for me.  I'll post pictures of some of the contemporary architecture I've seen during my stay in this vibrant city.

Rogers vs Foster

It is arguable whether Richard Rogers or Norman Foster should be crowned the eminent architect of the City of London*.  Both have numerous projects completed there.  Here are just a few prominent examples ...

Rogers' 1986 Lloyd's of London building at 1 Lime Street:

Rogers' 2001 commercial office tower at 88 Wood Street:

Foster's 2004 Swiss Re building at 30 St Mary Axe:

Foster's 2004 Moor House at 120 London Wall:

*Not to be confused with London, the City of London is a small area of London around which the metropolis has grown since time immemorial.  It is the financial district of the British capital city.
